For Belgians in Belgium

Belgians who are residing in Belgium are not immediately concerned by the new procedures. The new biometric passports are to be introduced in Belgium in the course of 2012.

The biometric passport will contain your identity, your  photograph, your signature and the fingerprints of two fingers.

Your passport, if issued before your municipal authority has the equipment for processing your biometric data, remains valid without any restriction throughout the whole period of validity (5 years).
