Didier Reynders meets his colleagues from the Benelux and the Baltic States

date: 11 December 2012

On 10 December, the Foreign Affairs ministers of the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) and of the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) held a meeting at Val-Duchesse chaired by Didier Reynders. At this traditional and informal meeting held between the two groups of countries, the six ministers exchanged their thoughts on current international themes.

They discussed the relations between the EU and Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. They agreed to focus more on the situation in Moldova at a European level. They also talked about the operations of the European External Action Service. Finally, they adopted a declaration for consular cooperation in which the six countries expressed their desire to serve as a testing ground for further and closer cooperation between EU Member States.

The next meeting between these ministers will be held in Latvia in September 2013.
