  • Ebola response: Belgium-US coordination

    30 Oct Press release

    The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo, the Minister of Social Affairs and Public Health Maggie De Block and Ebola coordinator Dr. Erika Vlieghe met on Thursday 30 October with Samantha Power, Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations. Ambassador Samantha Power conducted the past few days a field visit to the three West African countries most affected by Ebola: Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. She shared her experiences with the two Belgian ministers.

  • Burundi: support for health and training

    30 Oct News item

    On 22 October, the Belgian ambassador to Burundi, Marc Gedopt, signed two specific conventions, one under the framework of the Institutional Support Programme to the Health sector, the other in the framework of the Support to Vocational and Technical Education programme. In Burundi, the Belgian Development Agency (CTB) and the responsible ministries will be in charge of the implementation of the achievements of these two conventions.

  • Be-troplive symposium on animal biodiversity and family farming

    Be-troplive is the Belgian platform for tropical animal health and production, regarding human development, food security and nutrition. Every year, be-troplive organizes a symposium. As the United Nations declared 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming, this year’s theme will concern animal biodiversity and family farming.

  • Didier Reynders welcomes the successful holding of elections in Tunisia

    28 Oct Statement

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders welcomes the successful holding of parliamentary elections in Tunisia on Sunday 26 October. These elections represent a first but essential step in the last phase of the democratic transition process in Tunisia, which will end with the presidential elections on 23 November (on 28 December, in the case of a second round).

  • Didier Reynders condemns the terrorist attacks in Lebanon

    28 Oct Statement

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders condemns the deadly terrorist attacks against the Lebanese State this week-end. This new outburst of violence in the city of Tripoli cost the lives of numerous civilians and soldiers. The Minister expresses his condolences to the relatives of the victims and to the Lebanese authorities.
