Belgium Donates EUR 18.75 Million to UNRWA

  • Didier Reynders condemns murder of Zedi Feruzi in Burundi

    24 May Press release

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders condemns the murder of opposition figure Zedi Feruzi and his bodyguard. He also condemns the attack on the central market of Bujumbura that killed two and injured many people. He extends his condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

    Belgium has announced a new contribution of EUR 18.75 million spanning 2015-2017 that will help UNRWA provide essential health, education, relief, social services and emergency relief assistance for Palestine refugees. The generous donation will help improve the lives of Palestine refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, and provide UNRWA a degree of sustainability in aid delivery.

  • Guinea and Burkina Faso new partner countries of Belgian development cooperation

    21 May Press release

    On the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development Cooperation, Alexander De Croo, the Federal Council of Ministers today approved a new list of fourteen partner countries for Belgian Development Cooperation. The present list of partner countries had not changed since 2004. Two new partner countries make their entry: Burkina Faso and Guinea. Besides the new list of partner countries, the international partner organisations of the multilateral cooperation were also decided.

  • Belgium closes Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders closed the Belgian Presidency of the Council of Europe during the 125th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, on Tuesday 19 May at the Egmont Palace in Brussels. He officially passed the Presidency to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Crnadak.
