Didier Reynders condemns murder of young Palestinian in Jerusalem and calls for restraint

date: 03 July 2014

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders is concerned about the latest developments in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. He firmly condemns the murder yesterday of a young Palestinian in Jerusalem. The Minister expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

Didier Reynders is concerned about the increasing violence. Just as the EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, the Minister calls upon all parties to exercice maximum restraint. International law must be respected. The perpetrators of the crime must be brought to justice.

For Didier Reynders, the recent developments in the area show that it is necessary to resume the peace negotiations in order to reach a solution with two states living in peace and security side by side.
