Didier Reynders meets with Michael Link, Minister of State at Germany's Federal Foreign Office

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders today met with the Minister of State for the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Michael Link.

Talks were conducted in an atmosphere of openness, reflecting the excellent bilateral relations between Belgium and Germany.

Among other topics, the economic and financial situation of the EU was discussed, in particular the follow-up of the European Council in June. The ministers exchanged their views on the future of Europe. Other topics included the outlook for the expansion of the EU and the EU's future financing.

On a bilateral level, talks turned to Liège's candidacy for organising the International Exposition in 2017, and impulse was given to the fourth edition of the Belgian-German bilateral conference in 2013.
