Yves Leterme receives the prix Capalbio Europe
The Belgian Prime Minister, Yves Leterme, was awarded the Prix Capalbio Europe on 27 August in Capalbio, Italy. This distinction is an initiative of the Fondation Epoké. For the last five years it has awarded an annual prize to a personality for his or her commitment to European integration. The laureate is picked out by a jury of personalities, presided over by the former Italian Prime Minister and vice-president of the European Convention, Giuliano Amato.
Previous recipients of the prize are Giovanni Moro, Renato Brunetta, Joaquin Almunia and Guy Verhofstadt.Yves Leterme was delighted with this award: ”It is a great honour for me to be given this prize. Belgium, as one of the founding countries, continues to defend Europe, its model and its values. As a Christian Democrat, I am proud to continue the tradition of the pioneers of Europe.”
