Loss or stolen passport
Have you lost your passport, or has it been stolen?
Procedures differ depending on if you are in Belgium or abroad:
If you are in Belgium
- Call Doc-Stop to cancel your passport and protect yourself against any fraudulent use of your identity: 0800 2123 2123.
- Notify the police station where the loss or theft took place or your local municipality immediately.
If you are on holiday abroad
- Call Doc-Stop to cancel your passport and protect yourself against any fraudulent use of your identity: +32 2 518 2123.
- Notify the local police about the loss/theft immediately. Ask for a statement confirming the loss/theft.
- If you need a passport to return to Belgium, contact the Belgian embassy or consulate in the country you are visiting. If there is none, contact the embassy or consulate of another EU country.
- If you have been unable to notify the local police about the loss/theft while you were abroad, do so with your police station as soon as you return to Belgium.
If you live abroad
- Call Doc-Stop to cancel your passport and protect yourself against any fraudulent use of your identity: +32 2 518 2123.
- Notify your local police station abut the loss/theft immediately. Ask for a statement confirming the loss/theft.
- Notify your embassy or consulate about the loss/theft and send them the police statement.
