Didier Reynders commemorates victims of Holocaust on Yom Hashoah
The annual commemoration day of Yom Hashoah Ve-Hagevurah is an opportunity to commemorate and pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and heroes of the resistance. During the Second World War, six million Jewish men, women and children were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators purely and simply because they were born Jews. The tens of millions of other victims of the Second World War are also commemorated.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders expressed his empathy with the relatives of the victims and all Jews around the world. Our country also honours the victims by respecting human rights and fighting intolerance and discrimination.
Together with its EU partners, Belgium is endeavouring to achieve peace across the globe. Preventing large-scale brutality is a policy priority. This was clear from the conclusions of the Conference on the Prevention of Genocide in Brussels on 1 April 2014. This conference was an initiative of Didier Reynders
