Didier Reynders regrets drowned refugees on Lake Albert and expresses condolences
It was with sadness that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders learned of the deaths of 108 people who lost their lives in a shipwreck on the Ugandan side of Lake Albert on Monday 24 March. Most of the people on board were Congolese refugees who wished to return to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Minister expresses his most sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of this tragic accident, as well as to the authorities of the DRC and Uganda. He also commends the courage of all those who came to the rescue of the survivors.
