Didier Reynders meets with Djiboutian counterpart

date: 16 September 2013

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders met today with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti. Their meeting took place in the margins of an international conference on Somalia in Egmont Palace in Brussels.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and the Minister also took advantage of the discussions to draw the attention of the government of Djibouti to the situation of a number of dual-national Belgians citizens in that country. In particular, he spoke of Daher Ahmed Farah, a political opponent who has already been arrested several times in Djibouti, and of a Belgian-Yemeni who was arrested in Yemen and whose extradition Djibouti has requested.
