Didier Reynders condemns bomb attack in Cairo

date: 05 September 2013

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders strongly condemns the attack that took place in Cairo on Thursday against the motorcade of the Interior Minister, Mohamed Ibrahim. He offers his condolences to the families of the victims and asks that the perpetrators be brought to justice. He again stated that the fight against terrorism can only be effective if it is waged while respecting human rights.

Having visited Egypt in August, Minister Reynders is deeply concerned about the extent of continuing violence in the country, which threatens both its political and socio-economic stability. Minister Reynders calls on all parties to renounce violence and show restraint in their reactions. The Egyptians must follow the road of inclusive dialogue and reconciliation so that the entire population can return to the path of peace, security, prosperity and stability.
