Didier Reynders welcomes unblocking of accounts for Belgian Embassy in Kigali

date: 10 June 2013

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders is pleased that the bank accounts of the Belgian Embassy in Kigali (Rwanda) have been fully unblocked. This is a positive measure which promotes good relations between Belgium and Rwanda.

The accounts of the Rwandan Embassy in Brussels had already been unblocked in April, a step that pleased Didier Reynders. Foreign Affairs had stepped in in this respect to support the Republic of Rwanda in claiming its rights.

The Minister wishes to deepen relations between both countries in a peaceful and constructive climate. The visit by the Minister for Development Cooperation also took place in this spirit.
