Didier Reynders meets with Bernard Cazeneuve, France's Minister of European Affairs
On 23 July, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders met with the French Minister of European Affairs, Bernard Cazeneuve.
The meeting primarily addressed the economic and financial situation in the EU. The ministers discussed the follow-up of the European Council that took place last June. This summit produced the "Compact for Growth and Jobs", and tasked the President of the European Council and the Presidents of the Commission, the ECB and the Euro Group with providing a detailed working plan by December 2012 for strengthening economic and monetary union. Also under discussion was the role of European enlargement as a crucial driver for growth, employment and investment.
