Belgian film maker Kevin Meul’s short film wins the Grand Prize of the Jury in Seattle

date: 16 July 2012

Kevin Meul certainly makes a habit of winning. After already receiving the Meeting Point Award for Best Short Film at the Valladolid International Film Festival, and the Best Short at the British Independent Film Festival, he’s taking home another $1000 as grand prize winner of the International Film Festival in Seattle.

These many prizes are awarded Meul for his spectacular short film 'Het bijzondere leven van Rocky de Vlaeminck' (‘The extraordinary life of Rocky de Vlaeminck’). The juries at the Seattle Film Festival praise the film for being “full of sadistic humor, the intriguing adventures of a cursed boy”

The film is indeed bound to grab attention as we follow the misfortunate journey of a young boy surrounded by death and corruption. Leading actors are Kenneth Van Baeden, Ruth Becqaert, Wim Willaert and Jef Demedts.

Receiving the Grand Prize of the Jury out of 187 short films at the largest international film festival of the USA is a huge accomplishment. The festival had about 150,000 attendees.
