Two Belgians accept award in Turkey
Two Belgians were awarded with the TÜTAP (Tourism and Promotion Platform) Award on 17 February. The awards are given out every year to people in recognition of their efforts to promote Turkey and to contribute to its image abroad. Winners this year include Senator Fatma Pehlivan and honorary teacher Emiel Hoorne.
Fatma Pehlivan has been a member of the Belgian parliament and the Flemish parliament for more than 10 years. She also co-chairs the Belgium-Turkey inter-parliamentary friendship group.
Emiel Hoorne, originally a graphic artist and designer, has been acting as a go-between for the Turkish and Belgian art scenes for 25 years. He has organised several exhibitions in Istanbul for Belgian artists such as Jan Fabre, Panamarenko, Johan Tahon and many others.
The awards were presented in the presence of the Turkish ministers for culture and sport.
