Wide-ranging Belgian Development Cooperation project in Lebanon

Hospital benefiting from significant Belgian contribution opens its doors in Tebnine.

The Lebanese Minister for Health and the Belgian Ambassador, Colette Taquet, recently attended the inauguration of the Tebnine public hospital. The renovation and capacity expansion of this hospital was a three-year project carried out by the Belgian Technical Cooperation in partnership with Lebanese authorities and international financial institutions. Belgian Development Cooperation contributed no less than 3 million euros to this project.

Because of this project, approximately 150,000 people in the region will now be able to benefit from proper health care. Twelve other health centres in the area surrounding Tebnine were also renovated. The Belgian government has done its part to improve access to health care in Southern Lebanon.
